Mark Collins, President & CEO

Mark Collins
President and Chief Executive Officer

Mark Collins is a senior marine executive, having held leadership positions with BC Ferries for 11 years before becoming President & CEO. He was BC Ferries’ Vice President, Engineering from 2004 - 2012 and Vice President, Strategic Planning & Community Engagement from 2014 - 2017. His 35 years of marine experience also includes being President of Rolls Royce Marine Brazil and Rolls Royce Marine Italy, as well as several years in marine engineering on oil tankers, bulk carriers and container vessels.

He has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Transport and Logistics from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Geography from Saint Mary’s University and a Diploma of Mechanical (Marine) Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Born in Newfoundland, Mark understands the importance of a reliable ferry service to people’s lives, and to the social and economic health of B.C.’s coastal communities.

Brian Anderson, VP, Strategy & Community Engagement

Brian Anderson first joined BC Ferries in 1998 and held leadership positions in Finance, Operations and Customer Experience with the company for 13 years. In 2010, he joined BC Transit serving as Chief Information Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Rejoining BC Ferries in 2019, Brian is responsible for leading BC Ferries’ strategic planning processes, strengthening relationships and ensuring broad alignment with goals and objectives. He is the key point of contact for the 13 Ferry Advisory Committees and government stakeholders critical to the company’s success.

A seasoned transportation executive, Brian is passionate about ensuring employees understand the details of the strategic plan and how their work contributes to success. He holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Victoria and is a professional accountant.

Jason Barabash, Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

Jason Barabash leads the company’s legal function and is also responsible for corporate governance matters, information and privacy, property management, and economic regulatory affairs. Jason also serves as the Corporate Secretary of B.C. Ferry Authority. Prior to joining BC Ferries in 2005, he was a lawyer in the Calgary office of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (now Dentons) where he practiced financial services, securities and general corporate law. He obtained his Law degree and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Alberta. 

Janet Carson, Vice President, Marketing & Travel Services

Janet Carson joined BC Ferries in 2009. In her role as Vice President, Marketing & Customer Experience, Janet is responsible for marketing, public affairs, customer care, travel services, web services, the SeaForward program and has shared responsibilities with the CFO for revenue/pricing management. Janet’s focus is on leading all aspects of the customer experience. Janet’s background includes more than 20 years of executive management experience in the travel and tourism industry, working in executive leadership roles for organizations including Tourism Vancouver and Tourism Richmond. Janet’s expertise is in the areas of sales and marketing, destination development, strategic planning, business development and customer service. Janet holds an undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia.

John D'Agnolo, Vice President, People

John D’Agnolo joined BC Ferries in 2004 as the Director, Employee Relations in Nanaimo, a position he held for three years prior to his most recent role of Director, Corporate Human Resources in Victoria. In this position John is responsible for the leadership of Human Resources, Employee Relations, Workforce Planning and Talent along with Organizational and Management Development. His background spans more than 25 years of Human Resource and Employee Relations experience across three major industries. John has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Simon Fraser University and is a member of the Chartered Professional of Human Resources (CPHR), BC and Yukon.

Captain Jamie Marshall
Vice President, Business Development & Innovation

Captain Jamie Marshall is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business opportunities for BC Ferries to grow and diversify our revenue. In this role, he seeks new and innovative ways for BC Ferries to use its expertise to strengthen our service to our customers and our position in the industry. Prior to joining BC Ferries in 1990, Jamie served nine years as an Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy. He served as Chief Officer and Master on various routes and vessels in the BC Ferries fleet before proceeding ashore as Operational Safety Superintendent; Marine Superintendent of the South Coast region; Vice President, Safety, Security & Environment and Vice President, Fleet Operations. Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters Certificate of Competency. Jamie serves on several Boards including as Chair of the Canadian Ferry Association; Canadian Coast Guard’s Pacific Marine Advisory Board; and the Chamber of Shipping’s Western Marine Community Coalition.

Erwin Martinez, Vice President & Chief Information Officer

Erwin Martinez joined BC Ferries in 2016 as Chief Information Officer. Prior to this role he was the CIO at Coast Capital Savings Credit Union in Surrey, B.C. Prior to that Erwin had held CIO roles at several banks in California. He has a total of 19 years of experience in the CIO role. Earlier in his career, Erwin was with Accenture and Computer Sciences Corporation performing systems integration. Erwin has a broad range of skills and experiences including large scale program management, business re-engineering, disaster recovery, PMO/EPMO, vendor management, enterprise content management, IT risk assessment, IT governance, IT transformation and IT strategic planning. Erwin served on the Central 1 Technology Board Committee for three years, recently leaving that role as he has left the Credit Union business. Erwin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Administrative Sciences from Yale University.


Jill Sharland
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Jill Sharland provides strategic leadership to BC Ferries' accounting and reporting, financial operations, payroll, treasury, risk and insurance, financial planning and analysis, tariff and revenue, internal audit and corporate services, and also shares responsibility for government and regulatory affairs. Jill is a member of the company's Executive Management Committee.

Jill has extensive experience as a financial executive specializing in strategic and operational planning and financial decision support in fast-paced, capital intensive and customer driven industries.

Jill served most recently as CFO of LifeLabs, and prior to that as CFO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and spent over two decades in senior leadership positions with Rogers Communications. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Queens University as well as an Honors Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology and Physiology from the University of Western Ontario.

Corrine Storey joined BC Ferries in 2004 and was appointed Vice President & COO in 2017.  Prior to her role as Vice President & COO she held various leadership roles within BC Ferries including, Vice President, Customer Service, Vice President, Terminal Operations & Security and Executive Director of Customer Care. Before joining BC Ferries she held senior operations roles in the energy industry including Centra Gas British Columbia Inc. and Terasen Gas Inc.

Corrine understands the critical importance of delivering a safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable operation in support of the communities we serve, the customers who use our ships and terminals and the employees who provide the service every day. She leads a team responsible for safety, health & security, training, crewing, supply chain, fleet operations, the operations & security centre, terminal operations, catering operations, retail services, engineering, fleet maintenance, fleet renewal and standards, fleet technical and the fleet project management office.

Corrine holds a Master of Business Administration in Executive Management from Royal Roads University and a Diploma in Industrial Labour Relations from Queens University. She currently is a Member of the Board of the Canadian Ferry Association. Previously, she was Vice-Chair of the BC Provincial Safety Authority Gas Advisory Committee.
