BC Ferries Experience™ Card

What is the BC Ferries Experience™ Card and how does it work?

Important: March 23, 2020 - Customers with Experience™ Cards are encouraged to preload them online prior to travelling.

This will help reduce the risk of spreading infectious disease and support physical distancing at our terminals. Creating an account to access this option also provides card balance protection.    

The BC Ferries Experience™ Card is an electronic swipe card that can be loaded with money and used to pay for ferry travel on participating routes.

As a BC Ferries Experience™ cardholder, you'll have access to savings on passenger fares OR standard vehicle (up to 20 feet) and passenger fares on participating routes simply by registering your card and loading it with minimum Stored Value amounts. 

BC Ferries Experience™ Card users can elect to receive access to reduced fares on participating routes by choosing to load the minimum amounts of Stored Value:

  • Passenger only, minimum of $55 - to receive access to Passenger-Only reduced fares on participating routes; and/or
  • Standard Vehicle (up to 20 feet) and Passenger, minimum of $95 to receive access to Standard Vehicle and Passenger reduced fares on participating routes.

By registering your BC Ferries Experience™ Card you will receive these great features:

*It may be possible to use the Travel History report to claim the federal income tax credit for public transit on qualifying passenger trips.

Please Note:
There are some transactions that cannot be completed with a BC Ferries Experience™ Card.

It is currently not possible to use money loaded onto your BC Ferries Experience Card to pay for onboard purchases of any kind, for fully prepaid/reserved ferry travel on the Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands route, or for regular fare payments on the Brentwood Bay-Mill Bay, Langdale-Gambier Island-Keats Island and North Coast routes.
